Assignment 1: ED6060 ICT in
Education 2012 (Wed 31, Oct)
1.
How would you propose the plan to prepare students
in your country to work in different culturally, technologically, and economically
context?
To prepare
Thailand education system for students to meet the demands of different
culturally, technologically and economically, to be effective, it must
integrate all differences into the academic curriculum.
While the school
system used new technology to make better at educating all students around the
country, some part of people lack the skills and knowledge to be successful.
This is not because school have failed, but because of society demands in
standard and different of the school.
For 21st
century, necessary strategies to prepare students in Thailand that actually
know something about the world – its culturally, technologically and
economically.
For culturally,
Thailand should prepares for regional integration under the Asean Economic Community (AEC). It is important for prepares
students to adapt to cross cultural differences. We have to focus more in Asean
countries and Thailand has to adapt in order to become a heart.
Basically what
the AEC means is a future with much greater and freer flow of capital, goods,
services, and labor among the ASEAN countries. This means that Thais will
encounter a much great number of individuals from neighboring countries such as
students, teachers/professors, tourists, customers, employers, traders,
businessmen, artistic and cultural performers, and laborers. Since few of these
individuals will know Thai, it is imperative to communicate with them
effectively in English and/or their native languages.
Thus, in terms
of preparation for the AEC era, foremost is the critical need to improve the
language proficiency of Thais both in English and in the languages of the ASEAN
countries. All Thai college students should be developing proficiency in one
Western language (normally English but it could be French, German, or another
language) and one language of the ASEAN region (The nation, 2012).
To prepare its
students to meet the demands of an increasingly technological world, it must
integrate technology into the academic curriculum. for us as educators and for
students in the classroom. In this scenario, we are unwittingly failing to
prepare our students for a technology-driven world that is nothing like the
place that many of us graduated into. Yet, the reality is that students of the
21st century need a technology-based education to survive in a technological
world.
In term of economically,
it must integrate differences into academic curriculum. Focusing on small and
medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and opportunities for market expansion.
2.
What has been done by your country in each context?
Thailand will
join the ASEAN Economic Community, many things will change, free movement of
labour, expanded investment opportunities, cultural exchanges, increased
international travel routes and more tourism, so to prepare ourselves, Some
school in Thailand focusing on students who need to learn in a second language.
The current
government promoting students to use technologies by giving a tablet to each
seven year old using at school and home.
One benefit for
economically system is that many Thais now feel the urge to step out of the
country and learn more about their neighbours. Many are also keen to open
Thailand's doors so that more foreigners can appreciate our culture's unique
charms.
